You know the age old adage, “Actions speak louder than words?” I never realized how true it is until I realized all my boyfriend did for the past 9 months was talk about how much he loves me. It’s not that he didn’t do sweet things. Sure, he did hug me, kiss me yada yada. But if you love someone, you’d stick by the person when they need you the most. And just when I felt my world came crashing down, he decided to disappear. 

Anyone can say anything. Talk is cheap. It means nothing if not just a breath of air escaping someone’s oesophagus. John Doe can say he cares about animals but if you don’t see him volunteering at an animal shelter or campaigning for animal rights then what does that say about his values? Does it really mean something to him? I think not. It means as much to him as not doing something about it, it means that much.

It’s funny because I know this. I know people can get away with saying anything. Yet, with a leap of faith, I decided to believe in what he had said. I don’t know if that’s me being naive or me being plain stupid, or both. 

I have one question: Where do broken hearts go?
